Meet Brigitte Skeene

Brigitte Skeene · Innu from Mashteuiatsh · Founder, Talent iQ

I’m the founder of Talent iQ, an Innu woman from Mashteuiatsh, and someone who has spent much of my career thinking about one question:

How do we create workplaces where Indigenous talent can not only get in the door, but truly belong, contribute and grow?

Before founding Talent iQ, I built my career in talent acquisition and human capital, working with organizations such as Apple, Microsoft, Korn Ferry, Pratt & Whitney and CAE, and seeing firsthand how hiring decisions, workplace culture and leadership shape people’s opportunities.

Me as a little girl

Over time, my professional experience and my personal journey came together.

As I reconnected more deeply with my own Indigenous identity, culture and community, I began to see the workplace differently. I saw organizations with genuine intentions to advance reconciliation and Indigenous inclusion, but often unsure where to begin or afraid of getting it wrong. And I saw talented Indigenous people navigating systems that did not always recognize or value what they brought with them.

I knew I wanted to help change that.

That is why I created Talent iQ.

Today, I work with organizations to move from good intentions to action, building the knowledge, relationships and internal capability required to create meaningful career opportunities for Indigenous talent.

And meaningful matters to me.

This isn’t simply about increasing Indigenous representation or hiring someone because they are Indigenous. It is about recognizing talent, creating opportunities for Indigenous professionals to influence and make decisions, and building environments where people do not have to leave their identity at the door in order to succeed.

I believe organizations become stronger when they expand their understanding of what talent, leadership and success can look like.

My role is to help them get there, with curiosity, courage, respect and a willingness to do things differently.

Our philosophy

How we believe change happens.

Knowledge

Change begins with understanding.

Before organizations can change how they act, they have to understand what they may not see.

Connection

Relationships change what’s possible.

Trust is built through listening, reciprocity and genuine relationships, not transactions.

Culture

Hiring is only the beginning.

Meaningful careers happen when people have the opportunity to belong, contribute, grow and lead.

Knowledge changes how we see. Connection changes how we relate. Culture changes what becomes possible.

Our approach

What guides us

We don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. Every organization has its own realities, challenges and starting point. Our role is to understand where you are, work alongside you and build an approach that reflects your reality and that of the people you want to reach.

  • We listen before we act.
  • We build relationships before solutions.
  • We build capability rather than dependency.
  • And we measure success not only by who gets hired, but by the careers that become possible.
